Outstanding Service Awards

Outstanding Service Awards are organized by the Hong Kong Student Services Association for the award of twenty outstanding service awards for full-time students of University Grants Committee-funded sub-degree, undergraduate or postgraduate programmes from the 9 tertiary institutions, namely, the University of Hong Kong, the Chineses University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the City University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, the Hong Kong Institute of Education and the Hong Kong Shue Yan College.

Aim
To encourage students to develop leadership in the provision services to the community.

Criteria of Award

Awards will be on a competitive basis. They will be made to those with:

  • demonstrable record in the provision of services to fellow students, school or the community
  • proven leadership and organizational ability
  • active participation in extra-curricular activities
  • good academic standing with at least above average grades in the past three years

Selection will also be based on recommendations of a referee who knows best the applicant’s record in provision of services e.g. a secondary school principal, teacher, lecturer, or supervisor

Administrative Arrangement
The Awards will be administered by an Committee on Outstanding Service Awards appointed by the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Student Services Association (HKSSA) and the Hong Kong Outstanding Tertiary Students’ Services Association (HKOTSSA). HKSSA is a non-profit making organization formed by student affairs workers of the tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. HKOTSSA is established and run by the awardees of this awards. The donor or her representative will be an ex-officio member on the Committee on Outstanding Service Awards.

Selection Panels co-opted by the Committee will be responsible for assessing applications, interviewing shortlisted candidates as required and making the final decision about the awards.

Number of Awards : A maximum of 20 awards

Application Deadline : 10 December 2007
Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview and informed by Student Affairs Office/ Student Development Services / Student Services Center
